Bishkek, December 21, 2024 – The Europe Today: In a landmark event, the signing ceremony of the investment agreement for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Project took place in the Yntymak-Ordo building of the Presidential Administration in Bishkek. The agreement marks a pivotal step toward the commencement of this large-scale infrastructure project, which is set to begin construction on December 27, 2024.
The agreement was signed by Kyrgyz Minister of Transport and Communications Absattar Syrgabaev and Chairman of the Board of Directors of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company LLC, Zhong Shenggui. The ceremony was attended by high-level delegations from China and Uzbekistan, including Chargé d’Affaires of China in the Kyrgyz Republic Li Baojie and Uzbek Ambassador Saidikram Iyazkhodjaev.
A Historic Milestone
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev emphasized the significance of the agreement, describing it as a historic day for the three nations.
“By signing this investment agreement on the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, we are moving beyond a long and challenging negotiation process to the practical phase of implementing a project of regional and international significance,” said Torobaev.
