Belgrade, December 24, 2024 – The Europe Today: During a working visit to Serbia, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting with Ana Brnabić, Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly. The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and enhancing interparliamentary ties between Azerbaijan and Serbia, according to a statement from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides lauded the current state of their strategic partnership, which is rooted in mutual respect, trust, and adherence to international law. They underscored the importance of fostering cooperation bilaterally and within international parliamentary platforms, commending the active roles played by interparliamentary friendship groups.
Mutual Support and Cooperation
Speaker Brnabić expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s consistent support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. She highlighted the robust cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing mutual respect and the backing each provides within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Council of Europe.
Minister Bayramov acknowledged Serbia’s commitment to their partnership and provided an update on the outcomes of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was hosted in Azerbaijan. He emphasized the significance of agreements reached on the new climate finance target and other achievements in advancing the global climate agenda.
Future Collaboration
Minister Bayramov also extended his best wishes to Serbia as it prepares to host Expo 2027, describing the event as a testament to Serbia’s increasing global prominence.
The meeting concluded with an in-depth exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepening their strategic ties across multiple domains.
