Minsk, December 24, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarus will open an embassy in the Holy See, following the adoption of Resolution No. 988 by the Council of Ministers on 20 December 2024. The official document has been published on the National Legal Internet Portal, confirming the development.
According to the resolution, the embassy is scheduled to be operational by 1 September 2025. The Finance Ministry has been tasked with financing the establishment and maintenance of the embassy within the allocated funds for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These funds are part of the central budget designated for the operation of Belarusian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad.
The resolution came into effect on the day of its official publication, signaling Belarus’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations with the Vatican.
This development marks a significant step in fostering closer ties between Belarus and the Holy See, reinforcing the country’s diplomatic outreach and international engagement.
