Jinan, January 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of ensuring the effective implementation of government policies and securing a strong start to this year’s economic development during an inspection tour of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, on Thursday.
Premier Li stressed the need for prompt policy execution, swift progress on projects, and tangible outcomes from implemented measures.
At a local home appliance store, the premier highlighted the significance of the government’s consumer goods trade-in scheme. “This initiative is crucial for meeting people’s demand for a higher quality of life, unlocking consumption potential, driving industrial upgrades, and facilitating economic circulation,” Li stated. He announced plans for greater government support and optimized procedures to further stimulate consumer spending.
During a visit to a charging and battery-swapping station, Li noted the growing adoption of intelligent connected new-energy vehicles (NEVs) across China. He encouraged innovation in the development of charging and battery-swapping services, calling for reforms in energy management systems to transform the energy sector and create new economic growth drivers.
Inspecting infrastructure projects, Li underscored the dual significance of modern infrastructure, such as stadiums and water networks, as both economic assets and public welfare necessities. He called for strengthened resource allocation, particularly in funding and land supply, to support these projects.
Regarding urban renewal, the premier stressed the importance of meticulous planning and construction oversight, particularly for drainage networks, to ensure long-lasting project quality. He also urged greater private sector involvement in infrastructure and public service development to enhance investment efficiency.
Shandong, as a key economically developed province, bears significant responsibility for contributing to China’s overall development, Li said. He encouraged provincial authorities to expedite the implementation of policies and initiatives to maximize their impact on national economic progress.
This visit underscores the Chinese government’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth through proactive policy measures, industrial innovation, and public-private collaboration.
