President Tokayev Addresses Metapneumovirus Concerns, Emphasizes Cooperation with China

Astana, January 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for calm regarding public concerns over the metapneumovirus, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus on international cooperation. His remarks were shared by the Akorda press service on Monday during his visit to the House of Students at the Eurasian National Gumilyov University in Astana.

“Now everyone is talking about a new infection. There is no need to make a fuss. We should further develop cooperation with China,” President Tokayev stated, urging a balanced approach to managing the situation.

During his visit, President Tokayev inspected a newly built dormitory designed to accommodate master’s and PhD students of the university, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure.

The visit underlined the administration’s dedication to both addressing pressing societal issues and investing in the nation’s academic future.
