Beijing, January 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell on Monday, reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in various sectors, including new energy, the digital economy, and the blue economy.
The meeting, held in Beijing, marked 20 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Premier Li highlighted the progress made during this period, characterized by mutual respect, equality, and pragmatic collaboration that has delivered tangible benefits to their citizens.
China is prepared to align development strategies with Grenada, Li stated, emphasizing the importance of consolidating political trust and supporting each other on issues of core interests. He stressed the need for deepening cooperation in traditional sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and healthcare, while fostering collaboration in emerging fields under the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
“China encourages qualified Chinese enterprises to invest in Grenada,” Li added, reiterating Beijing’s readiness to assist Grenada and other Caribbean nations in climate adaptation. He also underscored the significance of jointly safeguarding the interests of the Global South and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Prime Minister Mitchell praised China’s achievements in poverty alleviation, noting their significance as a model for developing countries. He expressed gratitude for China’s long-standing support in Grenada’s economic and social development and reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to the one-China principle.
Mitchell also voiced support for China’s global initiatives, emphasizing Grenada’s intent to strengthen multilateral coordination with China.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral agreements, covering areas such as Belt and Road cooperation, economy, trade, green development, culture, media, and climate change. These agreements are expected to elevate China-Grenada relations to new heights, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.
