Upon arrival at Václav Havel Airport, Prime Minister Chính and his delegation were warmly received by Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jiri Kozak, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Hynek Kmoníček, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Dương Hoài Nam, embassy staff, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country.

During the visit, Prime Minister Chính will hold talks with his Czech counterpart, Petr Fiala, and meet with President Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Senate Miloš Vystrčil, and leaders of the Czech Communist Party and friendship organizations.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary also includes a visit to the Vietnamese embassy and interactions with the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic. He will participate in the 2025 Xuân Quê Hương (Homeland Spring) program, extend New Year greetings, and meet with prominent Vietnamese individuals and businesses in the Czech Republic and Europe. Additionally, he is scheduled to visit the Sapa Trade Centre, a key hub for Vietnamese businesses in the country, and attend the Việt Nam-Czech Business Forum, where he will engage with leaders of leading Czech enterprises.

This visit underscores the growing traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, a relationship that has flourished over the past seven decades. Vietnam regards the Czech Republic as a priority partner in Central and Eastern Europe, while the Czech Republic views Vietnam as a key gateway connecting ASEAN with Europe.

The bilateral relationship is marked by robust economic ties, with two-way trade reaching $3.8 billion in 2024, a 28% increase from the previous year. The Czech Republic has 41 direct investment projects in Vietnam, valued at $92.39 million, and both nations see significant potential for expanded cooperation in green and digital transformation, renewable energy, and mining.

Prime Minister Chính’s visit reflects Vietnam’s commitment to its foreign policy of independence, multilateralism, diversification, and comprehensive international integration, while reaffirming the shared determination to elevate the Vietnam-Czech Republic partnership to new heights.
