Turkmen Delegation Participates in High-Level ECO Meeting in Tehran

Tehran, February 4, 2025 – The Europe Today: A Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, took part in the inaugural meeting of the High-Level Committee of Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Tehran. The meeting, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, convened representatives from the foreign ministries of ECO member states, regional organizations, specialized institutions, and the organization’s structural units.

Discussions at the meeting centered on financial and budgetary cooperation, the implementation of the “ECO Vision 2025” goals, and the enhancement of the organization’s operational mechanisms. Gurbanov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and presented several key initiatives, including the creation of a Global Atlas of Sustainable Transport Connectivity, the establishment of an Alliance for Global Energy Security and Sustainable Development, and the promotion of a transition to a circular economy.

He further underscored the importance of effectively implementing the ECO Trade Agreement to facilitate deeper regional integration and strengthen cooperation in tourism and human capital development.

During the session, Gurbanov also held a brief discussion with ECO Secretary-General Asad Majid Khan, where they reviewed the current status and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the organization.

The meeting marked a significant step in advancing the collective objectives of ECO and reinforcing Turkmenistan’s role in regional economic and strategic development.
