Kuala Lumpur, February 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: As part of his business program in Kuala Lumpur, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan, accompanied by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, visited the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The leaders met with the President of Petronas, Muhammad Taufik, to discuss expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Malaysian oil and gas giant.
The meeting centered on strengthening collaboration with Petronas, a global leader in the oil and gas industry, petrochemicals, and renewable energy. President Mirziyoyev expressed strong support for potential projects in the fields of advanced raw material processing and green energy development.
Key priorities identified during the discussions included conducting geological exploration and the development of promising hydrocarbon fields. Additionally, both sides explored opportunities to implement cutting-edge technologies for carbon capture and storage. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of training highly qualified specialists, particularly through academic programs at Petronas University, to foster long-term growth and expertise in these sectors.
