Quảng Nam, February 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on Saturday called on enterprises in Quảng Nam Province to contribute to achieving an 8% GDP growth rate in 2025 and a double-digit growth in subsequent years.
During his working visit, PM Chính visited HS Hyosung Group, one of the top 30 largest economic groups in the Republic of Korea (RoK). Since its initial investment in Quảng Nam in 2018, the group has invested a total of US$452 million and operates two stable projects employing over 1,000 direct workers, generating annual revenues exceeding $200 million.
The Prime Minister commended HS Hyosung for its effective business operations and social welfare contributions, acknowledging its role in Việt Nam’s socio-economic development. He welcomed the group’s plans for expansion and assured that the Vietnamese Government would provide favorable conditions for its business activities.
Recognizing the robust Vietnam-RoK relationship, PM Chính urged HS Hyosung to continue adhering to local laws and effectively implementing bilateral agreements. He also highlighted the importance of environmental protection, social welfare for workers, and strengthening linkages with Vietnamese enterprises to integrate them into HS Hyosung’s and global value chains.
PM Chính instructed relevant ministries, agencies, and Quảng Nam Province to promptly address HS Hyosung’s specific proposals. He emphasized the need for efficient governance, administrative reform, and combating bureaucratic inefficiencies to support business growth.
Visit to Trường Hải Group Joint Stock Company (THACO)
Later in the day, PM Chính visited THACO at the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, which serves as Vietnam’s largest industrial hub for mechanical engineering, automobile production, and logistics. THACO employs nearly 15,000 workers and ranks among the top industrial enterprises in ASEAN.
THACO Chairman Trần Bá Dương reaffirmed the company’s commitment to implementing strategic projects aimed at building a new-generation multi-industry ecosystem in Chu Lai. These initiatives focus on green, smart, modern, and sustainable development.
PM Chính urged THACO to lead in innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and drive sustainable growth. He encouraged the company to participate in research and technology transfer in high-speed railway carriage production, ultimately progressing towards locomotive manufacturing.
He also lauded THACO’s role in expanding Chu Lai Port, enabling it to accommodate 50,000 DWT container ships, in line with government directives from his previous visit nearly three years ago.
Inspection of Chu Lai Airport
PM Chính also visited Chu Lai Airport to review the progress of a project involving social investment mobilization and airport operation. His visit underscored the government’s focus on infrastructure development and investment efficiency.
The Prime Minister’s engagements in Quảng Nam reflect the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth, strengthening enterprise participation, and advancing infrastructure projects to achieve national development targets.
