Turkmenistan Delegation, Led by Foreign Minister Meredov, Begins Talks in Tehran to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Tehran, February 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: A delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, arrived in Tehran, Iran, on February 11 for high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, as reported by the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Upon arrival, Minister Meredov met with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Khoshang Bazvand. During their discussions, the two officials noted the positive contributions of Iranian companies in road construction projects across Turkmenistan and reviewed the progress of agreements made during previous meetings of the joint intergovernmental commission.

Both parties emphasized their mutual interest in expanding economic cooperation, with a particular focus on infrastructure development.

The delegation then met with Iran’s Minister of Oil, Mohsen Paknejad, where they explored potential areas for collaboration in the oil and gas sectors. The talks highlighted the significant opportunities for joint ventures and future projects between the two nations in these critical industries.

Further discussions took place with Iran’s Energy Minister, Abbas Aliabadi, focusing on the modernization of energy systems, the efficient use of water resources, and enhancing coordination among relevant agencies. Both ministers expressed a shared commitment to improving cooperation in these vital sectors.

The visit of the Turkmen delegation to Tehran continues, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral ties and foster stronger economic and sectoral collaboration between Turkmenistan and Iran.
