Azerbaijan and Belarus Strengthen Parliamentary and Diplomatic Ties

Baku, February 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Dmitry Pinevich, the incoming Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, both sides commended the trust-based and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus. They highlighted the significant contributions of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus in fostering these ties.

The discussion also underscored the essential role of legislative authorities in advancing bilateral relations. Speaker Gafarova recalled her official visit to Belarus and emphasized the close interactions between the two countries’ Speakers and Members of Parliament. She noted that Azerbaijan and Belarus effectively collaborate both bilaterally and within international parliamentary organizations.

Extending her best wishes to Ambassador Pinevich, Speaker Gafarova expressed confidence in his success in future diplomatic activities. In response, Dmitry Pinevich expressed his honor at being appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan and conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception. He affirmed his commitment to enhancing the relationship between Azerbaijan and Belarus.

The meeting also included discussions on various other issues of mutual interest, further solidifying the foundation for continued cooperation between the two nations.
