Kuwait City, February 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: At the Al Bayan Palace in Kuwait City, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a formal meeting with the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al Sabah. The discussions were followed by negotiations involving official delegations from both nations.
President Mirziyoyev commenced the meeting by extending his heartfelt gratitude to the Amir for the warm welcome and hospitality. He also conveyed sincere congratulations to the leader and the people of Kuwait on the occasion of their upcoming national holidays.
The talks centered on advancing the friendship and multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait. President Mirziyoyev commended Kuwait’s ongoing implementation of the state program “Vision 2035,” highlighting its alignment with Uzbekistan’s New Development Strategy and long-term priorities.
Both leaders underscored the steady increase in political engagements, interagency exchanges, and the sustained growth in mutual trade and investment. Notably, last year saw the successful convening of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, alongside several key business events. The discussions placed particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation in trade, economy, investment, innovation, and finance-technical sectors.
As priority areas for practical collaboration, the two sides identified green energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism. To bolster joint projects, agreements were reached on establishing an Investment Platform and a Business Council, as well as opening a trade house in Kuwait City. Furthermore, both sides emphasized expanding project portfolios with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development within a newly developed Partnership Program.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation also featured prominently in the discussions. Plans were outlined for hosting cross-cultural and tourism weeks in both Uzbekistan and Kuwait. These initiatives aim to encourage active participation from representatives of both countries in cultural, artistic, cinematic, educational, and sporting events.
The meeting also reaffirmed the importance of continued mutual support within international organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Non-Aligned Movement. Additionally, joint preparations for the upcoming “Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council” Dialogue Summit, scheduled to take place in Samarkand this May, were discussed in detail.
Following the negotiations, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the comprehensive partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait. Concluding the talks, President Mirziyoyev extended an official invitation to the Amir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan, further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
