Hanoi, February 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: Politburo member and President of the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) Nguyễn Xuân Thắng has expressed hope for stronger Vietnam-Singapore cooperation, particularly in leadership training, research projects, and policy consultations.
During a working session in Hanoi on Thursday with Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam, Thắng, who also serves as Chairman of the Central Theory Council, emphasized that enhanced collaboration between the HCMA and Singaporean government agencies will further elevate bilateral relations.
He praised the significant progress made in recent years, noting that it provides a strong foundation for upgrading Vietnam-Singapore ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He highlighted the rapid expansion of cooperation across multiple sectors, from national defense and security to emerging fields such as the green economy and digital transformation.
A key aspect of this partnership has been Singapore’s commitment to knowledge-sharing in science, technology, and education. Thắng recalled that following a working session between HCMA leaders and the Singaporean ambassador last year, a delegation of high-ranking Vietnamese officials attended the Potential Leaders’ Programme in Singapore. This program provided valuable insights into governance, sustainable development, and national development strategies.
He further outlined Vietnam’s ongoing government restructuring efforts to enhance operational efficiency, stating that the HCMA’s role in training and nurturing future leaders has become even more crucial following its merger with the National Academy of Public Administration and several Party agencies.
In response, Ambassador Ratnam affirmed that human resource development remains the cornerstone of Vietnam-Singapore relations. He expressed gratitude for HCMA’s support in organizing training courses for Vietnamese officials, which have helped them gain valuable governance skills and insights.
Singapore, he added, will continue improving its management training programs for Vietnam, particularly the Leadership Governance and Potential Leaders’ Programmes. He also expressed interest in deepening cooperation in green transition, digital transformation, and renewable energy.
Highlighting the evolving nature of bilateral ties, Ratnam introduced a new slogan for Vietnam-Singapore relations: “Partnership of a New Era.”
