Uzbekistan, SUEZ Group Discuss Cooperation in Water Management and Infrastructure Development

Tashkent, February 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held a meeting with Pierre Pauliac, Interim Co-CEO & Chief Operating Officer Water of the SUEZ Group, to discuss bilateral cooperation in water supply and wastewater treatment systems.

During the meeting, both sides focused on enhancing water management infrastructure, with particular attention given to a public-private partnership project in the Surkhandarya region and plans to modernize Tashkent’s water supply system. The discussions underscored the significance of introducing innovative technologies and sustainable water resource management solutions to improve efficiency and reliability in the sector.

In addition to infrastructure development, the meeting also explored opportunities for collaboration in education and professional training. The parties considered joint initiatives aimed at developing educational programs for students at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, as well as specialized training programs to cultivate highly qualified specialists in the field. Furthermore, potential cooperation on projects supporting environmental safety and sustainable development in the region was discussed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in key areas, including drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, and effective water resource management, to support Uzbekistan’s sustainable development goals.
