Depok, February 23, 2025 – The Europe Today: Eleven students from the Master’s Program in Medical Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Indonesia (UI) have been awarded scholarships from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The scholarships, valued at approximately Rp440 million (US$26,900), are provided under the IAEA national project INS6022, titled “Expansion of Radiation Medicine in Indonesia.”
Speaking at the UI Campus on Saturday, Dean of FMIPA, Prof. Dede Djuhana, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s national health transformation program. One of the key focuses of this transformation is the development of oncology centers across all provinces to enhance the quality of cancer treatment services.
“We fully understand that the advancement of nuclear medicine technology requires highly skilled experts. Through this program, we aim to produce competent medical physicists who can contribute to optimal healthcare services,” stated Prof. Djuhana.
The scholarship recipients include Asyifa Khoerunnisa, Fulki Fiarka Djoni, Parinza Ananda, Hany Yuliati, Jenni Natalia Corebima, Hendra Himawan, Rosa Desinta, Abdurrahman Aziz Wicaksono, Aulia Firma, Antonius Fajar Adinegoro, and Rohma Novitasari.
Eight-Month Training in Nuclear Medicine
The eight-month training program, running from February to September 2025, will be conducted at various nuclear medicine centers in Indonesia.
During the training, students will gain hands-on experience in clinical practices ,including:
✔️ Calibration of nuclear medicine equipment
✔️ Calculation of internal radiation doses for patients
✔️ Quality assurance of nuclear medicine technology
✔️ Radiation safety and protection in nuclear medicine
This initiative aims to enhance Indonesia’s capacity in nuclear medicine and contribute to improving cancer treatment facilities nationwide.
