UAE President Attends State Banquet Hosted by Italian President in Rome

Rome, February 24, 2025 – The Europe Today: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, today attended a dinner banquet hosted by His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, in honor of His Highness and the accompanying UAE delegation during His Highness’ official state visit to Italy.

President Mattarella warmly welcomed His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the UAE and Italy, as well as the shared ambition to further strengthen bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations and their peoples.

In his remarks, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed expressed gratitude to President Mattarella for the warm reception and kind words, which reflected the strength of the longstanding relationship between the two countries. His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation with Italy, emphasizing that his visit represents the shared determination of both nations to deepen economic and strategic ties.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed noted that the UAE-Italy strategic partnership continues to grow, and he expressed his confidence that the outcomes of the visit would play a significant role in advancing bilateral relations. He also wished Italy continued progress and prosperity.

During the banquet, the two leaders exchanged medals as symbols of their countries’ close relationship. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed awarded President Mattarella the prestigious Order of Zayed, the UAE’s highest civilian honor, in recognition of his exceptional leadership. In return, President Mattarella presented His Highness the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Italy’s highest honor for world leaders.

Additionally, the leaders exchanged gifts that reflected the rich history and cultural heritage of both nations.

The banquet was attended by several members of the UAE delegation, including His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President; along with Italian ministers, senior officials, and other distinguished guests.
