Tashkent, March 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), on March 5 to discuss key areas of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the organization.
The discussions emphasized the need to enhance practical cooperation in addressing shared challenges and ensuring regional stability and security. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening collaboration based on the principles of good-neighborliness, trust, and partnership.
A key focus of the meeting was the ongoing modernization of the SCO’s activities, a process initiated during the Samarkand Summit. The discussions highlighted efforts to improve the efficiency of all organizational structures to meet evolving regional and global dynamics.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of implementing Uzbekistan’s proposed initiatives, including the Concept for the Development of a New Economic Dialogue, a trade facilitation agreement, an e-commerce program, an investment stimulation package, a logistics digitalization plan, and the SCO Future Technologies program. Additionally, the Food Security Atlas and other strategic projects aimed at fostering economic integration within the SCO were discussed.
The leaders also reviewed preparations for the upcoming SCO Summit in Tianjin, China, underscoring the significance of reinforcing cooperation among member states to achieve shared development goals.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to furthering regional cooperation and economic growth within the SCO framework, ensuring the organization remains an effective platform for dialogue and collaboration.
