Almaty, March 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Almaty, Jenishbek Asankulov, held a meeting with the Head of the Subregional Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) for Central Asia, Aidai Kurmanova, on March 3.
During the meeting, Aidai Kurmanova discussed key global processes and initiatives related to environmental protection and presented the main areas of work of the UNEP office in Central Asia. She highlighted current projects in Kyrgyzstan, which include efforts to promote the green economy, enhance climate resilience of mountain ecosystems, conserve biodiversity, control air pollution, and manage chemicals and waste.
Consul General Asankulov emphasized the significance of continued cooperation and mentioned the upcoming international conference, titled “Global Mountain Dialogue for Sustainable Development”, scheduled to be held in Bishkek on April 24-25.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Kyrgyz side expressed its readiness to collaborate on initiatives aimed at improving the environment and promoting sustainable development across the region.
