Islamabad, March 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at his residence to discuss key areas aimed at deepening Uzbekistan-Pakistan strategic cooperation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for the exceptional hospitality and outstanding organization extended to the Pakistani delegation during their historic visit to Tashkent on February 25-26, 2025. The Prime Minister remarked that the visit marked a new chapter in bilateral relations, establishing a solid foundation for major joint initiatives.
Key areas of cooperation elevated to a new level include:
- Establishment of the Strategic Cooperation Council – a crucial mechanism for fostering a long-term partnership.
- Expansion of trade and economic ties – aiming to increase bilateral trade volume to $2 billion.
- Launch and development of mega projects – including the Trans-Afghan Railway, mining industry, banking sector, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and renewable energy initiatives.
- Strengthening cultural and tourism exchanges – recognizing the shared historical heritage between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, reflecting not just partnership but brotherhood.
The meeting signified a mutual commitment to building on the achievements of the Tashkent visit and promoting strategic cooperation for the well-being and prosperity of both nations.
