Kyiv, March 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye has expressed its readiness to assist Ukraine in its reconstruction efforts and strengthen economic and trade relations, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced on Thursday during an official visit to Kyiv.
Bolat, accompanied by a delegation that included Turkish contractors, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the current state and future roadmap of bilateral economic and trade relations.
“During our visit to Ukraine, we were received by the President of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with the Turkish contractors accompanying us,” Bolat stated on X. “We reiterated our determination to achieve the $10 billion trade volume target set by Mr. Zelenskyy together with our President, our willingness to put our Free Trade Agreement into effect, and our readiness to transfer the experience and know-how of Turkish contractors to Ukraine in its reconstruction.”
Bolat also expressed gratitude for Zelenskyy’s support in facilitating the first meeting of the Task Force in Kyiv, which will play a pivotal role in coordinating reconstruction efforts.
In addition to the meeting with Zelenskyy, Bolat was received by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, where discussions focused on further enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.
“We once again emphasized our strong support as Türkiye for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty, and highlighted the importance of dialogue in achieving peace and stability in our region,” Bolat added.
Zelenskyy underscored the significance of Turkish businesses’ presence in Ukraine and acknowledged their role in the country’s reconstruction.
“Today, we discussed efforts to bring a just and lasting peace closer, the development of bilateral relations, opportunities for cooperation in drone production, and the participation of Turkish companies in Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Zelenskyy stated on X.
Emphasizing the strategic partnership between the two countries, Zelenskyy also announced Ukraine’s readiness to ratify the Free Trade Agreement with Türkiye during the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The visit highlights the deepening economic ties between Türkiye and Ukraine, with both nations committed to fostering trade and investment opportunities while contributing to regional stability and reconstruction efforts.
