Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran Establish Coordination Working Group for KTI Railway Project

Ashgabat, March 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: The railway agencies of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran have agreed to establish a coordination working group with the involvement of international organizations for the KTI railway project. This decision was reached during the 19th International Seminar held in Ashgabat, which focused on simplifying trade, transport, and information procedures, according to Turkmenistan’s official media.

The seminar brought together representatives from transport agencies across Central Asia, with particular emphasis placed on the digitalization and standardization of data exchange within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Discussions centered on ensuring compliance with international standards for the effective operation of the corridor linking China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Europe.

Key topics addressed during the event included the legal recognition of electronic documents and digital signatures, data protection measures, and the development of integrated databases to facilitate seamless operations across borders.

The seminar concluded with recommendations to advance digital transport corridors, aiming to simplify logistics, reduce bureaucratic obstacles, and enhance the competitiveness of the regional transport system. The formation of the coordination working group marks a significant step towards strengthening regional connectivity and optimizing trade and transport infrastructure.
