Tashkent, March 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, for high-level discussions on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.
At the outset of the meeting, Chairman Volodin conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to President Mirziyoyev. The discussions centered on enhancing interparliamentary cooperation, particularly in monitoring the implementation of agreements reached during President Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May last year.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the significance of thorough preparations for the second session of the Interparliamentary Commission, proposing that the session be held in Uzbekistan with active regional participation from both nations. The leaders emphasized the essential role of parliamentary institutions in facilitating and expediting priority trade, economic, and investment projects.
Additionally, both parties acknowledged the need to advance joint initiatives in labor migration and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, reinforcing the commitment to deepening bilateral relations. The meeting reaffirmed the strategic nature of Uzbekistan-Russia ties and the mutual interest in fostering further intergovernmental and interparliamentary collaboration.
