Beijing, March 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with Ed Miliband, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, in Beijing on Monday. The two officials reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in addressing global climate challenges.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that fostering stable and mutually beneficial relations between China and the UK serves the common interests of both nations. He highlighted that such collaboration contributes to global economic growth and strengthens joint efforts to tackle global challenges.
China is prepared to work closely with the UK to implement the key consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, Ding stated. He underscored the importance of consolidating momentum for improved bilateral relations, deepening cooperation in areas such as financial services, trade and investment, and low-carbon development. He further noted that joint efforts to combat climate change would not only benefit both nations but also the global community.
Ed Miliband expressed the UK government’s sincere desire to enhance engagement with China and its commitment to building a long-term, constructive bilateral relationship. He reiterated the UK’s willingness to collaborate with China in advancing energy security and climate change mitigation efforts.
