Turkmen-Russian Relations Strengthened Through High-Level Telephone Conversation

Ashgabat, March 19, 2025 – The Europe Today: A telephone conversation took place yesterday between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.

During the discussion, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his deep gratitude to Valentina Matviyenko for her significant personal contribution to strengthening friendly relations and the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia.

In response, Valentina Matviyenko thanked the Turkmen leader for the high appreciation of her efforts and extended her heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming Novruz holiday. She reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to fostering deeper trust and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

The two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, emphasizing the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing bilateral ties. Special attention was given to strengthening cultural and humanitarian collaboration in the areas of education, science, healthcare, and culture.

Additionally, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov extended an invitation to the Russian delegation to participate in the upcoming conference, “Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Activities for the Sake of Children.” The event, scheduled for March 29, is being organized by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.

At the conclusion of the conversation, both leaders expressed confidence that the high level of mutual understanding and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia would continue to serve as a solid foundation for constructive and long-term partnership.
