Tashkent, March 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: Uzbekistan and Italy are enhancing their collaboration in scientific research on agriculture and water resources management. A roundtable discussion titled “Uzbekistan – Italy: Expanding the Scientific Network” was organized by the Development Strategy Center in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in Uzbekistan at the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
The event brought together a distinguished delegation led by Federico Failla, Coordinator at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, alongside experts from prominent think tanks. Discussions centered on the practical aspects of the Ecological and Socio-Economic Restoration of the Aral Sea Region Program, a significant initiative supported by the Italian government in Uzbekistan.
Key topics included emerging trends in agriculture and water resource management. Participants explored avenues for further collaboration, including the establishment of summer schools and online courses designed for professors, teachers, and research professionals in both countries. Such initiatives aim to strengthen academic exchange and enhance expertise in these critical fields.
Representatives from Sogesid, as well as relevant ministries and agencies from Uzbekistan, actively contributed to the dialogue. The meeting concluded with the proposal of several measures to improve water resource management, while also highlighting opportunities for broader multilateral cooperation between Central Asia and Italy.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and Italy to advancing sustainable agricultural practices and efficient water management through scientific exchange and joint research efforts.
