Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Strengthen Bilateral and Regional Cooperation

Ashgabat, March 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in a meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of Central Asian countries and the European Union, TDH reports.

During the discussions, both parties expressed satisfaction with the strategic and long-term nature of the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. The leaders highlighted their active cooperation not only on a bilateral level but also within various international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Special attention was given to the international legal status of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality. Minister Mukhriddin congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on the adoption of the third UN General Assembly resolution on permanent neutrality and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s support for Turkmenistan’s diplomatic initiatives.

Furthermore, the parties explored prospects for strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on the potential for joint projects in key sectors such as energy, trade, and transport and communications, reinforcing the commitment of both nations to further deepening their partnership.
