Arkadag, March 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: In May 2025, Russia and Turkmenistan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their bilateral agreement on cooperation in culture, education, and science. This milestone was highlighted in a message from Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, to participants of the international conference in Arkadag, as reported by Turkmenportal.
In her address, Matviyenko emphasized Russia’s deep appreciation for its enduring friendship with Turkmenistan, noting that both nations have developed strong and effective ties in the humanitarian sector over the past three decades. Her remarks were delivered at the conference by Inna Svyatenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council.
The international conference, titled “Year of Peace and Trust: Development of International Activities in the Interests of Children,” took place on Saturday in Arkadag. The event coincided with the fourth anniversary of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
Matviyenko underscored the significance of the conference, particularly in light of the United Nations’ declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, a move initiated by Turkmenistan. She stressed the importance of mutual respect, dialogue, and concern for future generations in fostering international cooperation.
The conference welcomed representatives from government agencies and public organizations across Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, India, and other countries, along with international organizations, reflecting the global commitment to peace, trust, and humanitarian collaboration.
