Jakarta, March 31, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense has dispatched 12 tons of humanitarian aid to Myanmar to support earthquake victims, utilizing a Hercules aircraft for transportation.
The aid package includes contributions from the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), the National Alms Agency (Baznas), and various government and community organizations. According to Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan, the relief supplies consist of tents, food, blankets, medicines, and other essential medical supplies.
“This humanitarian mission follows the directive of President Prabowo Subianto,” Ermawan stated during the send-off ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Monday.
The aid will first be transported to Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base in Aceh before reaching its final destination at Naypyidaw Airport, Myanmar.
To assist in relief efforts, the TNI has deployed 39 personnel, including Hercules pilots and special forces members, who will provide medical treatment, establish refugee shelters, and conduct search-and-rescue operations for missing victims.
“These personnel will serve as an advance team, offering immediate assistance to those affected,” Ermawan added, noting that their stay in Myanmar will depend on the evolving situation.
Ermawan emphasized that Indonesia maintains a neutral stance and that the TNI’s role is strictly humanitarian, ensuring no interference in Myanmar’s internal affairs.
Despite the complex situation in Myanmar, the delivery of aid has faced no significant obstacles. The TNI has coordinated with local authorities and the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Center) to facilitate a smooth operation.
Expressing solidarity, Ermawan voiced hope that Indonesia’s assistance would help alleviate the suffering of the earthquake victims in Myanmar.
