Man Walks from Medan to Jakarta in 188 Days to Meet President Prabowo

Jakarta, April 01, 2025 – The Europe Today: Joni Manurung, a dedicated citizen from Medan, North Sumatra, completed a remarkable 188-day journey on foot to Jakarta to fulfill his dream of shaking hands with President Prabowo Subianto during the open house event at the Presidential Palace on Monday.

Having finally met the president, Manurung expressed his deep emotions and pride in accomplishing his mission.

“Wow, it was very memorable. I walked all the way from Medan to the Presidential Palace just to shake hands with Mr. Prabowo,” he shared during the event.

Manurung began his journey in August 2024 and arrived in Jakarta on February 14, 2025. Along the way, he documented his experience on TikTok, inspiring many others with his dedication and perseverance.

When asked about his motivation, he highlighted his admiration for President Prabowo’s patriotism and leadership.

“We pray for the president to be healthy and to lead Indonesia to be even better,” Manurung stated, expressing his hopes for the nation’s progress under Prabowo’s leadership.

The open house event at the Presidential Palace, held to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri, was attended by approximately 5,000 people. President Prabowo welcomed various public figures and officials before interacting with the public.

Due to time constraints, not all attendees were able to shake hands with the president. However, visitors were treated to food and refreshments and received gift bags containing essential items such as instant noodles, tea, milk, sugar, snacks, towels, umbrellas, and drinking containers.

Manurung’s journey stands as a testament to unwavering dedication and admiration for national leadership, resonating with many Indonesians who share his hope for a brighter future.
