Paris, April 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: A signing ceremony was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, formalizing an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO to host the 43rd session of the organization’s General Conference in Samarkand.
The event was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, who emphasized the significance of this milestone.
“This is a great honor and responsibility for us: for the first time in 40 years, the UNESCO General Conference will be held outside Paris. It is the result of tireless efforts in the creative industries, public diplomacy, and high-level international agreements,” Mirziyoyeva stated.
She further highlighted that culture and art serve as vital bridges in fostering global understanding of Uzbekistan, enhancing international cooperation, and supporting joint projects and economic partnerships.
The hosting of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand reflects Uzbekistan’s growing influence in international cultural and scientific collaboration and underscores its commitment to preserving and promoting global heritage.
