Ankara, April 11, 2025 — The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to working alongside Indonesia in the reconstruction of Gaza and supporting the Palestinian cause during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in the Turkish capital.
President Erdoğan commended Indonesia’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the importance of sustained international solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The two leaders met following an official welcoming ceremony held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, disaster management, media, and culture.
On economic ties, President Erdoğan stated that both sides had reviewed steps to elevate bilateral trade volume to a mutually beneficial and balanced target of $10 billion. “We aim to realize this goal in a way that benefits both nations,” Erdoğan noted.
The leaders also co-chaired inter-delegation talks, which were attended by high-level Turkish officials including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
As part of President Prabowo’s official visit, Türkiye and Indonesia signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in key areas:
- Disaster and Emergency Management: Two MoUs were signed between Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency to strengthen collaboration in disaster preparedness and response.
- Media and Communication: An MoU was inked between the Turkish Communications Directorate and the Presidential Communications Office of Indonesia to promote cooperation in media, public relations, and strategic communication.
- Cultural Exchange: A cultural cooperation agreement was signed between Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture, underscoring a shared commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
President Prabowo’s visit to Türkiye began on Wednesday and includes participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, a three-day international gathering set to commence on Friday.
