Azerbaijan Invites Slovenian Companies to Contribute to Reconstruction Efforts in Karabakh and East Zangezur

Baku, April 17, 2025 — The Europe Today: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has invited Slovenian companies to actively participate in the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Karabakh and East Zangezur. Speaking at the Azerbaijan-Slovenia business forum, Bayramov highlighted the opportunities for international businesses in the region as part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to rebuild and develop areas impacted by conflict.

“We invite Slovenian companies to Karabakh and East Zangezur. The companies can join the reconstruction efforts underway in the region,” said Minister Bayramov, underscoring Azerbaijan’s strategic position as a gateway for business and investment. He pointed out that the country offers a favorable environment for international companies, backed by modern infrastructure, a leading regional economy, and robust state support.

Bayramov emphasized that the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia goes beyond infrastructure and energy sectors. “When discussing the expansion of comprehensive cooperation, we cannot overlook the tourism sector. The rich cultural heritage, magnificent nature, and historical monuments of both countries create ample opportunities for mutual tourism,” he noted. Additionally, he advocated for deepening economic and trade ties beyond the capitals, urging the development of interregional business links to diversify cooperation and foster mutual investments.

Over the last two decades, Azerbaijan has been a key partner in ensuring Europe’s energy security, further solidifying its role as a reliable energy supplier.

Looking ahead, Bayramov expressed optimism for the future of Azerbaijan-Slovenia business relations, particularly in the context of the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. “The friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia extend far beyond the last three decades. Eighty years ago, Azerbaijan’s heroic son Mehdi Huseyn, known by the name Mikhaylo in partisan battles, laid the foundation for fraternal relations between our peoples by sacrificing his life for the liberation of Slovenia from fascist occupation,” he recalled.

The Foreign Minister also stressed the importance of continuing high-level engagements, including joint working groups and business forums, to further strengthen political dialogue and economic cooperation. “We believe that the Working Group meetings should serve as a key mechanism to advance cooperation in fields such as trade, investment, energy, connectivity, information technology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, tourism, education, and culture,” Bayramov emphasized.

The forum, according to Bayramov, serves as a vital platform for connecting entrepreneurs and business representatives from both countries, allowing them to explore mutually beneficial areas for collaboration and implementing joint projects.

As Azerbaijan and Slovenia celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations, both nations are committed to deepening ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister concluded by expressing hope that such business forums will become regular events, further bolstering bilateral trade and investments.
