President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets with Foreign Investors During Visit to Andijan Region

Andijan, April 17, 2025 — The Europe Today: As part of his working visit to the Andijan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with representatives of foreign companies planning to implement investment projects in the area.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that Andijan intends to commission 763 small and micro hydroelectric power stations this year, with a combined capacity of 24 megawatts. An additional 20 megawatts of capacity is scheduled to be launched next year. A Chinese company expressed its readiness to establish local production of equipment necessary for the hydroelectric facilities directly within the region. Furthermore, it was noted that the newly built hydroelectric stations will be maintained free of charge for a one-year period.

On the eve of the President’s visit, a major urban development and construction program was unveiled for the city of Babur. The initiative has attracted significant interest from international investors. In particular, a Chinese investor plans to invest $250 million in the development of a modern, multifunctional complex. The project, to be constructed on 55 hectares, will include a business center, hotel, shopping complexes, and residential buildings comprising 3,000 apartments.

Comprehensive presentations on this and other promising projects were delivered during the meeting. President Mirziyoyev instructed relevant officials to intensify efforts to attract foreign investment, strengthen cooperation with international partners, and ensure the creation of all necessary conditions for effective and long-term engagement.

Concluding his visit to the Andijan region, the Head of State returned to Tashkent.
