Tehran, April 18, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a meeting with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud in Tehran on Thursday, emphasized the importance of consolidating cohesion within the Islamic world and called for the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Saudi Arabia across all sectors to address regional challenges.
Highlighting the deep-rooted religious, cultural, and historical commonalities among Muslim nations, President Pezeshkian underscored the urgent need to reinforce Islamic unity. He described harmony among Islamic countries as essential to ensuring peace, security, and sustainable economic development in the region.
“Dispute and poverty among Muslim nations do not befit the dignity of the Islamic Ummah,” President Pezeshkian said. “Leaders of Islamic countries have a responsibility to present an inspiring model of peaceful co-existence, social welfare, and collective progress for the world.”
Declaring the Islamic Republic of Iran’s full readiness to expand ties with Saudi Arabia in all arenas, President Pezeshkian welcomed the establishment of joint working groups in political, economic, and security domains. He stressed that both nations possess the capabilities and shared values needed to resolve regional issues independently, without foreign interference.
Expressing optimism about the trajectory of bilateral relations, the President voiced hope that the deepening friendship between Iran and Saudi Arabia would serve the broader interests of the Islamic world and deter external actors from sowing discord among Muslim countries.
He further expressed Iran’s readiness to host King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud in Tehran, as a gesture of goodwill and a commitment to deepening diplomatic engagement.
Touching upon the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, President Pezeshkian remarked that genuine unity among Islamic countries would prevent aggressors from perpetuating such tragedies. “If the Islamic world stood truly united, the Zionist regime would not be capable of inflicting such a catastrophe on the Palestinian people,” he stated.
Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, for his part, conveyed warm greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to President Pezeshkian. He described his meetings with Iranian officials as “positive and constructive,” reinforcing the commitment of both sides to a new chapter of cooperation and mutual respect.
