Ashgabat, April 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: Representatives from government agencies, public associations, and the private sector gathered in Ashgabat for interdepartmental consultations on climate subsidies, focusing on investment strategies for agricultural innovation and environmentally friendly technologies in response to climate change.

As reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age, the meeting aimed to explore mechanisms for financing modern, eco-conscious solutions in agriculture and other sectors most affected by the impacts of climate change.

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. It was held within the framework of the project titled “Strengthening the capacity of Turkmenistan to access climate finance through capacity building and strategic frameworks,” which supports the country’s readiness to engage with the Green Climate Fund.

Participants received detailed presentations outlining Turkmenistan’s collaboration with international organizations on initiatives that align economic development with climate adaptation. Key discussions centered around identifying priority climate-resilient technologies, assessing their financial needs, and understanding the operational principles of global investors such as the Green Climate Fund.

In breakout sessions, stakeholders worked to compile a priority list of technologies essential for building climate resilience, emphasizing the importance of financial support and investor alignment.

The meeting also highlighted the necessity of strengthening partnerships among government institutions, development organizations, and private investors. An integrated approach was deemed essential to ensure efficient implementation and long-term sustainability of climate-related projects.

The consultations marked an important step in Turkmenistan’s ongoing efforts to align with global climate goals, foster innovation in green technologies, and secure international climate financing for national development.
