Bishkek, April 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: The inaugural meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Transport, Transit, and Logistics commenced on Monday in Bishkek, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kyrgyzstan, the Turkmen delegation was led by A. Hudayberdiyev, Deputy Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
During the session, the parties discussed the provision of mutual tariff preferences and outlined key areas for cooperation in transportation and logistics. The agenda focused on enhancing transit shipments, developing multimodal container routes across the territories of both countries, and expanding collaboration in road, rail, and maritime transport.
Special emphasis was placed on the utilization of Turkmenbashi International Seaport for the westbound shipment of Kyrgyz goods, as well as on facilitating consular cooperation, including visa procedures for participants in international transport operations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides plan to sign a Protocol to formalize the agreements reached and to chart a course for further collaboration. The Joint Commission is expected to hold meetings on a regular basis, with the second session scheduled to take place in Turkmenistan in 2026.
The first meeting will continue through April 30.
