Ashgabat, April 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has extended warm birthday congratulations to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.
In his congratulatory message, President Berdimuhamedov conveyed his sincere wishes to the UN Secretary-General for good health, personal happiness, boundless energy, resilience, and continued success in his globally significant mission at the helm of the United Nations.
The President also acknowledged the important role António Guterres plays in addressing international challenges and promoting peace, security, and sustainable development across the globe.
António Guterres has served as Secretary-General of the United Nations since January 2017. Prior to assuming this role, he was the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from 2005 to 2015, where he led one of the world’s foremost humanitarian organizations during a decade marked by multiple refugee crises.
Earlier in his career, Guterres held the office of Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. During his premiership, he was recognized for his active engagement in strengthening Portugal’s role within the European Union and fostering the country’s international partnerships.
President Berdimuhamedov’s message reflects Turkmenistan’s continued support for the principles and goals of the United Nations and its commitment to constructive cooperation with the international community under the leadership of the Secretary-General.
