Pakistan, Ethiopia Finalize Plans for Trade Conference and Exhibition in Addis Ababa

Islamabad, May 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: His Excellency Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), met with His Excellency Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan to review the preparations for the upcoming Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and the Single Country Exhibition of Pakistan in Addis Ababa.

The events are scheduled to take place in the Ethiopian capital from May 15 to 17, 2025, and are expected to significantly boost bilateral economic cooperation and commercial engagement between Pakistan and African nations, particularly Ethiopia.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing arrangements and acknowledged the positive response from Pakistani traders and investors. The strong interest follows a successful joint mobilization campaign spearheaded by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the Government of Pakistan.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker formally extended an invitation to Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan to attend the High-Level Business Forum titled “Invest in Ethiopia,” which will be held from May 12 to 13, 2025, in Addis Ababa, ahead of the trade conference and exhibition.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal described the Single Country Exhibition as a significant milestone in Ethiopia–Pakistan relations. “The Government of Ethiopia and its business community are fully prepared to welcome the Pakistani delegation,” he stated, adding that the exhibition presents a pivotal opportunity to develop enduring trade and investment linkages between the two brotherly nations.

He also underscored the instrumental role played by Ethiopian Airlines in connecting the two countries, crediting the development to the Ethiopian Embassy’s efforts in advancing Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy.

Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan praised Ambassador Dr. Jemal for his dynamic leadership and tireless efforts in galvanizing Pakistan’s business community for the landmark event. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its economic engagement with the African continent and noted that Ethiopia’s hosting of the Single Country Exhibition exemplifies the deepening partnership under the policy framework.

The conference and exhibition are anticipated to attract high-level officials, business leaders, and stakeholders from both countries, marking a new chapter in bilateral economic cooperation and regional connectivity.
