Nakhchivan, May 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union, and Arzu Aliyeva, Head of the Baku Media Center, accompanied by their family members, paid a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on Friday.
As reported by local media, the visit was marked by a deep engagement with the rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage of Nakhchivan. The delegation toured several prominent architectural landmarks, medical institutions, and cultural sites in the region.
The itinerary began with a solemn tribute at the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, where the visitors laid flowers in remembrance. The delegation also toured the Heydar Aliyev Museum, which houses a vast collection of exhibits highlighting the life, political journey, and enduring public service of the esteemed statesman.
Further exploring Nakhchivan’s architectural legacy, the delegation visited the renowned Momina Khatun Tomb, the historic Nakhchivan Khan’s Palace, and the open-air museum in “Ajami” Park. These sites offered insights into the region’s storied past and the artistic accomplishments of the khanate era.
A key component of the visit was a stop at the Nakhchivan Children’s Rehabilitation Center, which serves children with disabilities. Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva toured the facility, examined its various departments, and received detailed information on the medical rehabilitation services offered. In a gesture of support, Leyla Aliyeva donated advanced rehabilitation equipment to the center, including robotic rehabilitation gloves, miostimulation devices, and infrared light therapy tools.
Later that day, the Heydar Aliyev Palace hosted a screening of the first part of the feature film “Taghiyev: Oil,” organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Produced by the Baku Media Center, the film portrays the life and charitable contributions of the famed Azerbaijani philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev.
The visit underscored the commitment of Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva to promoting cultural heritage, supporting social initiatives, and fostering public engagement in the autonomous republic.
