Hanoi, May 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: Key tourist destinations across Vietnam have reported a strong surge in both domestic and international arrivals during the first two days of the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) holiday period, which runs from April 30 to May 4.
In the northern coastal province of Quảng Ninh, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Hạ Long Bay, nearly 500,000 visitors were recorded on April 30 and May 1 — a 16% year-on-year increase, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Among them, 200,000 tourists stayed overnight, including 44,700 foreign visitors.
Tourism revenue in the province hit an estimated VNĐ1.33 trillion (US$51 million), up 45% compared to the same period last year. The Hạ Long Carnival 2025, themed “Connecting Heritage – Pioneering Brilliance”, attracted around 20,000 attendees to Sun Carnival Square.
Popular spots saw high footfall, with Hạ Long City welcoming 177,000 tourists, Móng Cái City 42,000, Uông Bí nearly 18,000, Vân Đồn District 31,000, and Cô Tô District about 11,500 visitors on May 1 alone.
Meanwhile, in the southern province of Kiên Giang, over 143,000 tourists visited during the same two-day period — an over 50% increase from last year. Total revenue reached more than VNĐ458 billion, a 61% rise year-on-year.
Phú Quốc Island remained the top attraction, drawing 63,425 visitors (including 10,800 foreigners), accounting for over 44% of the province’s total tourists. Unique experiences on the island such as underwater walking, pearl harvesting in Rạch Vẹm, and “golf on the sea” at Dugong Bay in Hàm Ninh fishing village contributed to its appeal.
Vietnam’s tourism sector is seeing promising signs of recovery and growth, with many destinations reporting record-high numbers for the holiday season.
