President Tokayev Hails Vietnamese Leader’s Visit as Testament to Strong Bilateral Friendship

Astana, May 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has described the first official visit of Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to Kazakhstan as a vivid symbol of the enduring and strong friendship between the two nations, according to media reports.

Speaking during the meeting held at the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana, President Tokayev reaffirmed that Vietnam remains a key partner for Kazakhstan in Asia. He noted that both countries share common aspirations on the path to sustainable development and prosperity.

“Two years ago, during my official visit to Vietnam, we agreed to chart new avenues for bilateral cooperation,” the Kazakh leader stated. “Next month will mark the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Vietnam. I am confident that the friendly ties between our peoples will continue to grow stronger. We are prepared to make concerted efforts to achieve our common objectives and tackle shared challenges.”

In response, General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Kazakh side and conveyed his optimism about the future of bilateral relations. He emphasized that the current visit reflects the dynamic growth of cooperation between the two countries and the high level of mutual trust that underpins their partnership.

Tô Lâm underscored Vietnam’s intention to elevate Kazakhstan as its first strategic partner in Central Asia, pointing to the growing depth and breadth of political, economic, and cultural ties.

The meeting marked a significant step in the ongoing enhancement of Kazakh-Vietnamese relations, which have expanded steadily over the past three decades through diplomatic engagement, economic collaboration, and shared commitment to regional and global stability.
