Islamabad, May 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: Pakistan’s armed forces have launched a powerful retaliatory response to Indian air strikes that targeted multiple cities in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, shooting down five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, a drone, and destroying a key Indian brigade headquarters, officials confirmed early Wednesday.
In an official statement, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, announced that all Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets returned safely after engaging the adversary in a high-stakes aerial confrontation. The air force’s counter-operation was carried out with “strength, precision, and resolve,” he said.
According to a military spokesperson who spoke with Reuters, the downed Indian aircraft include three French-made Rafale jets, one Sukhoi Su-30MKI, and one MiG-29 Fulcrum.
The retaliatory operation also saw Pakistan’s forces destroy an Indian military post in the Dhundial sector along the Line of Control (LoC), where an intense exchange of fire is ongoing. Pakistani Army units remain actively engaged with Indian forces, ISPR confirmed.
