Islamabad, May 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Adel Al-Jubeir, at the Prime Minister’s House for an official meeting focused on the evolving situation in South Asia.
The Saudi Minister of State is undertaking a day-long visit to Pakistan, underscoring the Kingdom’s continued engagement with key regional developments. During the meeting, Minister Al-Jubeir conveyed Saudi Arabia’s deep concern over the ongoing tensions in South Asia, reaffirming the Kingdom’s consistent call for restraint and the peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He lauded the Kingdom’s steadfast and unwavering support for Pakistan through times of both opportunity and adversity.
While addressing recent developments in the region, the Prime Minister strongly condemned India’s missile and drone strikes that have targeted Pakistani territory, resulting in the martyrdom of numerous innocent civilians, including women and children, and causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
He denounced these acts as unprovoked and unjustified aggression, emphasizing that they constitute a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and pose a grave threat to regional peace and stability.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the valiant personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces for their exemplary courage and resolve in defending the nation against hostile incursions. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full determination to defend its sovereignty in line with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering peace in the region. Minister Al-Jubeir, in turn, extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of innocent civilian lives caused by the recent attacks.
Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his warmest regards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its enduring partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
