Heydar Aliyev’s Legacy Commemorated in Moldova on 102nd Birth Anniversary

Chisinau, May 11, 2025 — The Europe Today: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, hosted a commemorative event marking the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, a pivotal figure in the modern statehood of Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by senior diplomats of the Azerbaijani Embassy, members of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova, Moldovan parliamentarians, representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps, prominent public and political figures, and diaspora activists.

In his keynote address, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Moldova Ulvi Bakhshaliyev paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev’s distinguished legacy, emphasizing his transformative role in shaping the modern political, social, and economic landscape of Azerbaijan. The ambassador noted that Heydar Aliyev also laid the foundation for bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Moldova.

Highlighting the continuity of the late leader’s vision, Ambassador Bakhshaliyev stated, “The political course established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev is being successfully carried forward by President Ilham Aliyev. Under his leadership as the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Azerbaijani Army liberated our territories from occupation. Today, Azerbaijan, having fully restored its territorial integrity, is advancing rapidly under President Aliyev’s guidance.”

Addressing the gathering, Moldovan Member of Parliament Vitalie Jacot, who also serves as Chairman of the Moldova-Azerbaijan Friendship Group, described Heydar Aliyev as an exemplary statesman whose leadership altered the destiny of his nation. “His life and achievements are a testament to visionary governance and strategic foresight,” Jacot remarked.

Elchin Bayramov, Chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Moldova, echoed similar sentiments, calling Heydar Aliyev a symbol of national unity and progress for the Azerbaijani people.

The event concluded with participants viewing an exhibition showcasing the life, leadership, and enduring legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
