Ashgabat to Host 7th Central Asian Climate Change Conference in May 2025

Ashgabat, May 12, 2025 — The Europe Today: The 7th Central Asian Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025) will convene in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from May 13 to 15, serving as a key regional platform for dialogue and cooperation on climate resilience, adaptation, and mitigation, Turkmenistan’s official media reported on Sunday.

Organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), the conference is being held in partnership with the World Bank, the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP), the RESILAND CA+ program, and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

According to the announcement, the event is expected to bring together government representatives, international organizations, and climate experts from across Central Asia. Delegates will engage in in-depth discussions on pressing environmental challenges and strategies to mobilize climate finance, strengthen regional cooperation, and enhance resilience to climate change impacts.

The theme of CACCC-2025 is “Achieving the Global Climate Finance Goal through Regional and National Actions in Central Asia.” The conference agenda will address critical issues such as rising average temperatures, increasing desertification, and the accelerated melting of glaciers — all of which pose significant risks to both environmental sustainability and economic development in the region.

Organizers emphasized that CACCC-2025 aims to foster collaboration across sectors and borders, aligning climate strategies and policies to attract greater financial and political support. The conference is expected to result in concrete steps toward helping Central Asian nations transition to a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

The Central Asian Climate Change Conference series is a leading regional forum initiated to facilitate knowledge exchange, joint planning, and coordinated actions in the face of climate change — one of the most urgent challenges confronting the region today.
