President of Uzbekistan Receives EU Special Representative to Discuss Expanding Cooperation

Tashkent, May 14, 2025 — The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais, for high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.

During the meeting, Special Representative Stiprais conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The discussions focused on the practical implementation of the outcomes of the inaugural “Central Asia – European Union” summit, which was held in April this year in Samarkand. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic dialogue and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

Special emphasis was placed on the timely preparation and advancement of specific investment and financial-technical cooperation initiatives. These projects, which are collectively valued at 12 billion euros, are expected to significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian region.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on pressing regional issues and reviewed the schedule of forthcoming high-level events within the framework of Uzbekistan–EU cooperation.

The talks underscored the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and the European Union to fostering sustainable development, promoting regional stability, and enhancing connectivity through mutually beneficial partnerships.
