Kazakhstan’s National Museum Hosts 2025 Night of Museums Cultural Event

Astana, May 19, 2025 — The Europe Today: The National Museum of Kazakhstan in Astana hosted the 2025 Night of Museums, a vibrant cultural and educational event dedicated to International Museum Day, according to media reports.

Organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Astana Mayor’s Office, the annual event featured a dynamic program including exhibitions, interactive installations, artistic performances, and master classes aimed at engaging audiences of all ages.

Since its inception in 2015, the Night of Museums has become a highly anticipated tradition at the National Museum, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. Over the years, the event has grown significantly in both scale and popularity:

  • In 2016, the Museum welcomed 30,000 visitors.
  • In 2017, the event was held twice, with over 39,000 participants attending the two editions—one marking Nauryz and the other International Museum Day.
  • 2018 saw over 37,000 attendees, followed by a record-breaking 42,000 in 2019.
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, the event shifted online, hosted on the Museum’s official website to maintain public engagement.
  • In 2023, attendance rose again to 48,000, while the 2024 edition gathered 30,000 visitors.

The 2025 celebration continued the tradition of cultural enrichment and public engagement, reinforcing the Museum’s role as a key institution in promoting Kazakhstan’s historical heritage and contemporary creativity.

The Night of Museums remains a vital platform for cultural dialogue, learning, and artistic expression, aligning with global initiatives to increase access to and appreciation of museums worldwide.
