Tehran, May 20, 2025 — The Europe Today: Indonesia has declared its readiness to forge strategic partnerships with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop an inclusive and sustainable artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, aiming to drive equitable technological advancement across the Islamic world.
Speaking at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform in Tehran, Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, emphasized that AI is more than a futuristic tool — it is a catalyst for inclusive socio-economic transformation.
“Indonesia sees AI as a strategic tool for building food security, expanding access to healthcare, promoting renewable energy, and sustainably downstreaming natural resources,” Yuliarto stated.
He highlighted how AI can help address population growth and climate challenges through smart agricultural systems, real-time crop monitoring, and efficient supply chains — all crucial for long-term food resilience.
In healthcare, Yuliarto underscored the potential of AI-powered telemedicine to serve remote regions, reducing disparities in access while maintaining diagnostic precision.
He also stressed the role of AI in renewable energy by optimizing solar, wind, and geothermal conversion via smart grids, and in resource downstreaming by enhancing the eco-efficiency of mineral processing, helping Indonesia build a competitive, green manufacturing sector.
Yuliarto concluded by reiterating Indonesia’s commitment to collaborative innovation among OIC nations, aiming to elevate the Islamic world in the global AI landscape.
