Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets Iranian President Pezeshkian to Strengthen Strategic Partnership and Regional Cooperation

Tehran, May 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: As part of a working visit by a high-level Turkmen delegation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Monday. The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries and expanding cooperation in key sectors, according to a statement from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the outset of the talks, Minister Meredov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In response, President Pezeshkian extended his cordial greetings to the leadership of Turkmenistan.

The discussions covered a wide range of topics, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further enhancing cooperation across political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural domains. Particular emphasis was placed on joint efforts in trade, energy, investment, transport, and environmental protection.

President Pezeshkian underscored the mutual benefits of expanding bilateral ties and advancing joint investment initiatives, stating that such collaboration serves the shared interests, stability, and prosperity of the peoples of Iran and Turkmenistan.

The two sides also highlighted the strategic importance of developing transport and transit infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity. In this regard, they discussed plans for an upcoming international conference scheduled for December, an initiative proposed by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which aims to foster multilateral cooperation and regional development.

Both countries expressed a shared vision for deepening collaboration within international and regional frameworks, reflecting their longstanding commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable growth in the region.
